I've just been reading about this in Family History Monthly (UK), it would be very helpful for those who come across old legal or other documents when they search well back in their family archives............a prime example of this would be on ScotlandsPeople website where a free search can be conducted for wills....you only have to pay if you find a document that relates to an ancestor....this subject will help you read it if your lucky to find one

Welcome to Scottish Handwriting.com, the website offering online tuition in palaeography for historians, genealogists and other researchers who have problems reading manuscript historical records written in Scotland in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.
The emphasis of the website is on practical help to improve the palaeographical skills, rather than on the academic study of Scottish handwriting.
