Re: Highland Clans - MacDonald
After 260 years we discover our Williams are not Welsh but the DNA from my only surviving uncle goes to the McNeil/McDonalds of the Isles of Barra and Jura. I have had our genealogy researched all the way back to the Canmore and beyond with the other Scottish families but to find out the major surname for my mother is not the correct one sets me back 16 years of research.
How many ES'ers have participated in the Family DNA projects and what were your outcomes?
Looking forward to hearing some good ideas on this topic.kellyd:redrose:

Family DNA has us listed as MacNeil and MacDonald in the b group of R1b1 from Barra.
The two matching lines of code are actually the same person. One is my mother's research and the other mine.
The name of the ancestor we match is an Ailean Og MacNeil. Any help on this family will be greatly appreciated.kellyd:redrose:

Re: Highland Clans - MacDonald
Mam,
There maybe an explination for this. I have been tracing the McLeans or MacLianes.. There was a grant given to two brothers of the Isle of Mull. One was called black John. I need to find out exactly why. This maybe a lead to why MacDonald put up in the black group, originally. This posting above has been moved out of the black group and put in the the b group or orange at the research site. I wonder why they moved it?
