Interesting. I have McColls in my family tree back in Appin. My 5th g gmother was a McColl. The McLaurins (I'm one) and the McColls moved to the same area in the Carolinas when we left Appin. Laurinburg, NC in what is now Scotland County, NC was one area. Directly across the Pee Dee River about 6 or so miles from Laurinburg is McColl, SC in Marlboro County, SC. Nearby is Red Bluff, SC where many of the McLaurins lived that went to South Carolina. This is where my 4th g grandfather lived. It was later the home of U.S. Senator John L. McLaurin.
