Long season of green stoles and altar dressings comes to an end today and we launch into the blues or purples, the pink and white of Advent. It is time to say good-bye to the second year of COVID and turn to the new: for the Christian liturgical calendar begins with the first Sunday of Advent as we anticipate all that is to come . . . the real start of the sacred season that culminates on the 25th of December in celebration and joy. But to-day we look back and forward, standing on the brink of the new year.
