REMEMBRANCE DAY is mere days away and poppies have appeared on lapels and wreaths are being collected to lay at War Memorials.
How and who will you remember? A cousin, the maiden aunt who nursed the injured, an uncle . . . people known only in family lore and through long-faded pictures.
My thoughts as I look at the news article of the death of the uncle after whom my husband was named and as I fondle the pilot’s pin that a cousin took from his jacket and pinned to my diapers as he returned from war.
God bless all who served and will serve . . .
