The first day of the New Year is traditionally a day to relax and recover from the celebrations of Christmas and New Year’s Eve and in anticipation of getting back to work on the 2nd. It is also a day for “giving up” desserts, carbs and cigarettes and alcohol and “taking up” salads and decluttering and gym classes.
