We Persevere
Because yesterday my day started actually the night before as I prowled through
the little girls section at Wal-mart to find a “prairie dress” for granddaughter who will make
the short trip to Perry, Oklahoma where an old fashioned school house still exists.
If that teacher draws a circle on the blackboard and sticks my granddaughter’s nose
in it like she did my other precious, sweet girl years ago I really don’t know what
I’ll do. I may find the video my daughter took and put it on U-tube so the whole
world can see it. My granddaughter came home and cried, even though they kept
telling her it was all a joke. Wasn’t funny to me, either.
The dress I found this year was of calico and slightly resembled a pinafore. With a country
looking boys shirt changed with lace and puffed sleeves and a ruffle around those
the fuchsia plaid shirt became a perfect match for the calico dress. Surprising the
plaid and calico went together.
Cooking for the meeting I wanted my son and nephew to attend took a little thought
but all went smoothly with that. My son and nephew thoroughly enjoyed the meeting as
well as having learned a great deal. I wanted them to go just to see the pleasant, thoroughly
thought out, clean, head start building and the very nice Otoe complex made
possible by their wise management of casinos.
The conference room was to the back of that so they had to walk through the children’s learning center. A big spider man seemed to cling to the wall in a mural right there with his over sized web. Other characters of less sizes graced all the walls. And again everything was clean, clean.
There was work to be had for my son, and the instructor discovered my nephew’s talent with computers and talked about setting up a class for him to teach the elderly how to use a computer. That was a good thing.
Every day moves along here with so many little glitches straightened out, from trimming of thorn bushes I keep because the birds love the little sweet berries and completely ate all of them during the snow storm-to planting more bulbs on the berm. I can’t wait for my elephant ears to come up on that.
By night fall after having risen at 3 a.m. I was so exhausted my whole body hurt. A good night’s sleep, though, brought me to accomplish today a cleaning of the room where my summer museum will be.
To do- March 24-2011
Take nail out of bench so no one gets cut on it, RAKE broken pottery along west fence,
PLANT squash, SCRAPE off surface where sweet potatoes were,
PAINT table top with sealer, PAINT small pedestal with orange paint for accent,
STACK frames on top of chest behind large plastic box, Clean museum room to put summer museum and genealogy nook back up in preparation for those searching for their ancestors. They come from near and far. DISCUSS: “Pole barn area.”
