As I did when Charles and Diana were married the alarm was set for 3 a.m. this morning. What a reward awaited me. This wedding of Katherine and William
filled my heart with such hope. Here they were right in front of me on the television with such love and happiness showing through in their obedience to a Christian ceremony.
Probably one pair of the royal shoes would have served our food budget for the month, but you know what? That’s okay. All the material goods in the world hold not the deep satisfaction good Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip showed through the happy smiles on their countenance during the wedding of their grandson and his most precious bride, and isn’t that the greatest thing in the world. The faithful queen and her escort surely have endured and here was the reward.
There is royalty by blood and inheritance and then there are King’s, who were anointed by God as King David of the scriptures was. Surely, Catherine is such as this. What a wonderful Queen she will make. The scriptures tell of all these things, love is the greatest and that radiated from her face.
Never has there been a royal wedding such as this that I know. The reading from the scriptures of Jesus’s words by Katie’s brother was magnificent. The counsel given by the minister touched my heart and obviously humbled those great people, who were in attendance, too. Truly, this was a wedding for the people there in England and to reach across the waters to our people. We, who toil with our chores, sometimes feeling there is no one above us to understand our load were
given a breath of fresh air to see this youthful future monarchs in submission to a
power higher than themselves.
History tells of Catherine Douglas who placed her arms in the door for bars to protect her King James of Scotland from the crowds pushing through has nothing on William’s, Princess Catherine. Forever after, when courage was needed down through history, the phrase was passed from father to child, “Katie Bar The Door.” This is the strength and love I see in the personage of this brave girl of our times, willing to take on anyone or anything that may threaten her King and spouse. He in return respects as well as loves her, that was seen in his pride as he
treated her as carefully as though she were fine crystal, and in fact, she is as beautiful.
