A Scotsman, McDonald was the ancestor who married into the Ponca family of Casey's. There was Gus McDonald, a relative of Casey's, who is credited with the fancy war dance which is popular in
present day pow-wows. It is a fast moving war dance and is so exciting to watch. The drummers
are crafty and move the beat to a fast tempo but he knows the songs well and invariably stops instantly on their last beat:
