This is the story of a Highland family coming to Canada and settling on the land. In it you'll find like most families they do have to struggle to make ends meet and overcome adversity. The hero of the story is Shenac, the twin sister of Hamish. When their father dies and they are forced to sell of half their land to a neighbour Shenac takes charge and holds the family together until her other brother comes back from the Gold fields.
