  • Halloween

Well it has just gone 9 here in Chatham and so far I've had 63 kids around. Normally 9.00 is the latest kids are allowed out so hopefully that's it. I actually ran out of treats but I did have a small supply in reserve just incase.

So how did your night go?

The kids cleaned us out!...probably around 30 turned up, is it just my imagination or do the kids bring bigger bags around?..

It is a thing of the past here. It must be 20 years since we had a visit from Halloween'ers !

        Re: Halloween

We only had 11 last night, down from about 16 last year.

        Cheers,

We had absolutely no-one here. It is all very different from years ago and the North American "Trick or Treat" has taken over. Too many films and TV programmes. Even the English have started celebrating too...

Well quite a few had pillow cases with them and also quite a few with plastic pumpkins as buckets. One had a witches hat.

              Re: Halloween

Great disappointment for me last night. I get such a kick out of the costumes - especially those of the older kids with many being very creative. But with the electric still out over most of the town after the storm, I had not one asking for their trick-or-treat at my door. Now, I'm stuck with all this candy. I intend to dump it on the mail lady tomorrow. I intend to save the old choppers as I lack will-power!!!

                Re: Halloween

Alastair, I do remember that when we were kids, we did carry pillow-cases around. One of the most momentous things that happened to me & Charlotte (my across the street girlfriend), was we went to a place just down the street, and I remember a man telling us we had to sing the ABC song for treats. You know the one "A, you're adorable, B, you're so beautiful, C, you're a cutie full of charm....bla bla....... I've often wondered about that guy!? However, we didn't feel afraid, so who knows?? Re: Halloween

Actually when I was a kid we always had to do something to get the treats. Like sing a song or recite a poem or something. Now it's just "Trick a Treat" and expectant faces.
