  • Scotland - A Police State?

I have been commenting recently on how the state in Scotland seems to be increasingly authoritative. Like we now have just one national police force with many more police armed as routine instead of for a reason. Then it was reported that police do many more stop and searches routinely and some say 10 times the number carried out in New York City.

Then I noted our centuries old justice system is being tinkered with. I am further concerned about the stated aims of getting rid of the BBC to replace it with SBC. At the end of the day we must have a free press so I questioned what was going on there.

Then today I was reading two articles in the Scottish Review which are also concerning...

We are sleepwalking into an authoritarian Scotland at

The Kafkaesque surveillance of our schools at
    http://www.scottishreview.net/WalterHumes170.shtml

The first questioned the legality of forcing our children to fill in a detailed questionnaire which takes around 40 minutes to complete. The second questions the role of our schools and the growing administrative work load.

At least we have the comfort of having the Internet available where we can at least question the Government in a public forum bu there again how many people have the time to follow such discussions?
