So the River Forth Rail Bridge Is Awarded World Recognition.

A pity that the design engineers were not Scottish...

A few years ago, I found that the same design was used, to build a shorter length bridge (I think) in Canada.

Now found a photo of the bridge in Quebec.

Cantilever bridges are not uncommon; Connel Bridge, near Oban is another example. I am sure you know that one Ranald!!~~
Just do a search for Cantilever bridge and you will see what I mean.

Hi Sandy, yes I know that bridge well ! I still regard it as a 'half' cantilever bridge.

Regarding the photo,the road bridge is parallel to (and on this side) of the rail bridge.

The road bridge has two main pillars and a long centre section.
