While doing The Scots in England book I make a note of some of the Scots mentioned in there with the idea I'd search for more information about them.
Sir James McGrigor was Director-General of the Army Medical Department and did sterling work for them. I found a pdf file of his autobiography so thought I'd make this available on the site. What I've done is extracted the detailed Preface which gives a good overview of the man and so if that tweaks your interest you can click to read the pdf file of his autobiography.
This is available at http://www.electricscotland.com/books/pdf/mcgrigor.htm
I do intend to make other books available of some of these outstanding Scots as I have time to research them.
