As you'll know I have been going through old copies of the Scottish Review and as articles in there tweak my interest I'm extracting them for the site.
The neat thing is that there is often a review of a book and so by extracting the review I go hunt to see if the actual book is available on the Internet Archive and if it is I'll provide a link to it. Here are the articles I've taken out this week...
Robert Burns and Mrs Dunlop

As we already have a major section for Robert Burns I do keep my eye out for anything of interest about him and this series of letters between them is most interesting.
Scottish Guilds
Found an interesting review about a book containing good information on Scottish Guilds.

I'm always on the lookout for more information on Scottish Guilds and in the appendix to this publication there are numerous references to publications about them. This is the kind of book that will be of interest to researchers but the review should be interesting reading.
The Constable Nun' Alvares
An article from the July 1898 Scottish Review with some interesting information on Portugal and the Knights Hospitallers.

As may know we already have a book up on the site on the Scottish Marshall of the Portuguese army. This is thus a mix of interest as it tells us a bit about Portugal back in the old days but also mentions the Knights Hospitallers which took over from the Knights Templars.

I'm publishing a couple of these Kerr lectures just to giver you a flavour of what's available.

The above two books were added for a couple of reasons. It's been pointed out to me that in Scotland we made the Bible relevant to the world around us and so not just linked to the past and thus cast in stone. And so I thought the "Science of Religion" would make an interesting read. Then I noted the Kerr Lecture series which were given in Scotland. There are a number of these lectures and so I thought making a couple of these available folk could go on to find others if they find this of interest.
Korea and the Koreans
An interesting book which teaches us some of the history of Korea. At the end of this review there is a link to purchase a reprint of this book which was published in 1898.

As I love history any time I come across an article that tells us of another part of the world I like to include it and especially if it's in Asia as that area of the world is showing great growth and I think it's useful to know something of their history.
I have quite a few more editions of these reviews to go through so hopefully will be bringing you more of them in the weeks ahead.
