  • New Header

We've changed our header to better reflect all the content we have on the site so previously large section that were hidden under out Lifestyle section are now on the main menu.

Having made the change we also removed the search engine to a link but found that was not working for us so have now made a further change to bring it back but in a neater format.

So we now feel the newest header now better reflects our site and we hope you like it.

We also decided to remove the InfoLinks advertising on the site so the wee green underlines are now gone.

We will also be removing the toolbar and InfoLinks advertising within the community over the weekend.

And by the way there were problems for some people getting to our site over the past 24 hours or so. It seems that Network Solutions missed our renewal payment for a domain that is used for technical admin purposes and so took down the domain. This meant all domains hosted on our servers lost connection. A quick phone to them sorted the problem but by that time most Domain Name Servers around the world had taken us out and so that means it can take up to 24 hours to put us back. Such is life.

I am glad that everything is up and running now. Yesterday was not much fund on the viewing end of things.

      Re: New Header

Network solutions do create problems which is why I switched all my domains to GoDaddy. However it looks like we also need to switch Steve's domains over as well.

It did take considerable time and effort to switch domains between the two companies.

Anyway... Steve tells me he is devoting most of the weekend to working on the community so hopefully we'll see some new stuff appearing. There is also a new update for the maim community software which also lets us get better access to the system through smartphones. We need to get that update done before we can start the application process for our apps.

Then I'm told there is an update to our Arcade so likely we'll get that installed.

But Steve tells me he has found a wee collection of useful add-ons but isn't telling me what they are so I'm hoping there will be some good quality stuff there.

He has to go check on a roofing job in the morning early and then a quick visit to some shop and then the rest of the weekend is ours.

Alastair, I have noticed, besides not being able to get "on" the community today, that the radio linkage is not there. Will it be returned to the header? I've just noticed previously that you had the bluegrass radio listed...& it's really nice to have Joan :O)

          Re: New Header

Hi Joan... when upgrading to the latest version of this software most of our add-ons were disabled so Steve has been working hard to restore them all and I note he had also restored the Radio as well. We also lost the YouTube videos but they are also back.

So as far as I can see Saturday was all to do with upgrading to the latest release of our community software and then fixing all the problems this caused. Today (Sunday) I'l hoping we can get down to actually adding new stuff :-)

            Hi Allie,

I like the idea of Smart phone update. I like to look at things through my mobile when on a longish trip. Will we be able to upload pictures? Ohhh, I finally got the Kindle to work. I didn't realise you had to download to the document folder. It would not bring up the document folder on the old pc but did on the new laptop. I moved everything I had downloaded from here to the document folder and wha-la! I can read these wonderful books! I am really proud about it even though it took me ages to find out what was wrong.

In Search of items for the Slavery work you are doing, I found a site about David Livingstone. He looks very interesting so I am going to see if ES has a PDF I can download to the Kindle!

:) Happy as a kid in a candy store!
