Excursion to the Orkney Islands

I was actually looking for a children's story and found this book. What interested me was to see how folk traveled to Scotland from America many years ago and how they got around. This book is about a mother and her two children and a young friend who travel together. The first few chapters are getting prepared for the trip... organising money which was obviously rather different in these days. How they booked the ship and all kind of other matters to take into consideration.

Then we get the actual boat trip to Liverpool and then the train up to Scotland and onwards to the Orkney Isles.
