US Air Force Museum ... Virtual Tour

For anyone who hasn't made it to the National Museum of the USAF yet, technology has now brought the Museum to you. This is a fantastic site with a unique capability. Enjoy it ....!

Several tips to get you started:

    1. Click on any dot on the Map to see what's around you at that point.

    2. You can "x off" the map for an unobstructed view of the planes. A small "Map" icon is available in the corner of the screen so you can easily go back to the overall view whenever you want.

    3. Take a walking tour of the Museum by clicking on the Blue Arrows on the floor to move through each building. Pretty amazing stuff.

    Cheers

If it weren't for the United States military,
there'd be NO United States of America.

*******OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT "clickable". I WILL LEAVE THE ADDRESS HERE, SO THAT SOMEONE CAN ENTER IT INTO THEIR SEARCH, OR BROWSER, SO YOU ARE ABLE TO SEE THIS. IT APPEARS QUITE SOPHISTICATED. j #######

I thought some of you all would enjoy this. I went to the USAF Museum back in the 70's, & it certainly looks different now. Thanks, Joan

I went into the WWII area of this virtual tour, & for some reason, was able to find a picture of an officer named Col. Daniel James, or "Chappie". He & his family lived about two doors down from my family's base housing during our tour in England. When I actually went to the USAF museum, I toured their picture gallery, & there saw a painting of Chappie. By the way, Chappie James is buried in Arlington Cemetery. (look him up on Google, as he had quite a career, rather amazing!) My younger brother when in England, actually washed Chappie's Thunderbird in the driveway for him. They had two kids, and the son went on to become an officer in USAF. I also lived across the street from the Blaha family, & one of their sons, John, went up into the Russian space station, as he was an astronaut. Believe it or not, I was listening to the radio, & they had a lead from that station, & I actually recognized John's voice. (as an aside, I used to babysit for the youngest kids in their family!) What a small world we live in!!! Joan

IF you scroll to the left of the pics of Ben Davis & Chappie James, you'lll find info about Tuskegee airmen, then scroll tiny bit further, there's Chappie's son, having achieved a lot on his own. I tried the Google, & it works to get the tour!!!
