Military strategist David Kilcullen: why the war on terror has failed
Wednesday 24 February 2016
David is regarded as one of the world's leading thinkers on counterinsurgency
This is another episode of...................... Conversations with Richard Fidler Which is broadcast on ABC Radio in Australia, I could not decide which forum to place it on as the subject matter covers all areas which ultimately result in conflict & bloodshed.
Story background.................... David is an Australian but has been based in the US for many years.
He was senior advisor to US General David Petraeus, when he helped to design and monitor the coalition troop surge in Iraq.
David has advised the UK and Australian governments and NATO, and worked for the Counterterrorism Bureau of the US State Department as their chief strategist.
He describes 2015 as a 'Blood Year': a year of massacres and fallen cities.
David looks at the ISIS threat to Australia, and what an effective strategy might look like against the 'War on Terror'.
Further information and listening
Blood Year is published by Black Inc.
David is a former Australian Army officer and the author of The Accidental Guerrilla, Counterinsurgency and Out of the Mountain.
