  • All hell has broken loose!

All hell has broken loose here and I am exhausted and devastated. My son in Brisbane has left his partner and taken the 3 year old and 22 month old with him. He arrived at my place very late Monday night. I knew he was coming but was not happy about it.
There has apparently been trouble and they have not been happy for a while. I really don't want to know all the details. I just think that they are both equally at fault. I've never yet known of a relationship breakup which was entirely one person's fault. I would attribute it 50% each.
John and I can't handle having 2 small children 7/24 anymore, much as I adore my grandchildren. I'm 66 for God's sake! There's a reason why 66 year old women can't have babies!
I feel terrible about my son taking the babies away from their mother. I'm a woman too and I would have been totally shattered if that had happened to me. However I look at my son and I see how thin he is, almost gaunt, which he attributes to the stress of the situation for the last 6 months or so. He's about 6'3" and is well under 80kg.
I can only play it day by day. As if I need all this stress at my age. Can't eat nor sleep properly.

Re: All hell has broken loose!

Way back I shared a flat for a time with a chap whose wife had left him and taken their 2 daughters with her. Most nights he was bombed out of his mind with drink. It was a sad time for sure.

There is no easy way out of this kind of situation but it must happen to hundreds of thousands of people as the divorce rate is so high these days.

Wishing you all the best for coping with this Elda... it won't be easy but I guess it will eventually work itself out and hopefully sooner rather than later.

Re: All hell has broken loose!

Elda, I am in great sympathy for you at this time. You are correct in saying that 66 year olds weren't meant to have babies. I have experienced divorce myself, but my kids were much older, the youngest of 3 was 14 yrs old, others 19 & 18. There is still some lingering of pain on their part, in regard to my getting the divorce. Although they do understand better themselves, both boys have been divorced, & remarried. My daughter married a young divorced guy with a little boy, and the boy is now 22, and they brought him into their home to raise. I believe that time does help to heal all of the main difficulties. "Keep calm & carry on..." Joan

          Elda,
Take care of yourself, hopefully matters will resolve themselves in the short, rather than the long term and you and your hubby will be able to continue enjoying a peaceful life. Gordon.
