Porridge The Movie . Times are hard for habitual guest of her majesty Norman Stanley Fletcher (RONNIE BARKER). The new prison officer, Beale, makes MacKay (FULTON MACKAY) look soft and whats more, an escape plan is hatching from the cell of prison godfather Grouty and Fletcher wants no part of it.
The breakout is set for the day of a morale-raising football match between a "celebrity" football team and the inmates of Slade. Everything is going to plan until Godber (RICHARD BECKINSALE) is injured on the goal post. In the ensuing confusion, Fletcher finds himself on the wrong side of the prison walls and must now try and break back into prison.

Just to keep Joan busy I thought I should place some new TV items on the board.:redrose:

.Open All Hours - Series 1 - Ep 4 - Beware Of The Dog .

Comedy giants Ronnie Baker and David Jason both on screen together it isn't a surprise that this is a much loved sitcom.

A local crime wave scares the wites out of an already security-obsessed Arkwright - there's nothing for it, the shop has to be fortified!

There are many episodes on Youtube.

    BBC Meet the Ancestors

This was a great program that once appeared on the BBC, there is also a great book by the same title written by Julian Richards, [worth reading].

    Hi Joan,

My daughter presented me with a book the other day, "The World of Downton Abbey"..by Jessica Fellowes, it's a great read, discusses all the characters, plenty of photographs and a great deal of information on the historical situation of the time where the series was set. You would enjoy the book. It is available from Amazon in hardcover.

Here is a good review for you to read.................

In regard to the above mentioned Downton Abbey, I started watching it on our PBS, starting with Season 1, which hooked me. Then missed recording the first of the Season 2, which later watched (in order) on my computer, then followed with the rest of the episodes in that season. I really loved it, & continue to have the whole thing on my DVR. Perhaps will leave it, perhaps delete them. It's projected that there'll be a 3rd season as well. Humbly, Joan

Just noted an actual "mistake", in my posting above, in regard to Masterpiece's Downton Abbey DVD. It is $24.99, can't figure out WHY I made such a stupid mistake!! Please forgive??? Joan

Gordon/Joan.. Parts of Downton Abby was filmed at Highclere Castle, and while we don't watch the series on the telly, Sue and myself will hopefully pay a visit to Highclere Castle when we are in the UK next year!

Hello....Just for someone's information, I did some research on the "nonedited UK version" of Downton Abbey online. You can get it on American Amazon now, which is the cheapest I found, at $15.19, plus $2.98 shipping, whereas the Masterpiece website, their same version is $12.99, with Free Shipping.

I doubt if I will buy either at present, as my "pennies are screaming"!! Joan
