Just re-watched a Neil Oliver "Coast" special. Lots of work being done in Orkney which suggests the Orkney was the 'origin' for all the Stone Circles in the British Isles. The Ring of Brodgar and all the associated neolithic structures pre-date Stonhenge etc. A Google search for "orkney capital of britain" will shed some light~~
