This is an account taken from the book in the title that explains in some detail the settlement of land in the early days. It makes a really interesting read and of course shows just how fortunate we are today. It was a very tough life back then but these settlers build the farms and towns that we enjoy today through their hard work. Well worth a read at http://www.electricscotland.com/hist.../cavendish.htm
