Some of you will know that the Scotsman newspaper is running a series on Tom Devine's new book "To the Ends of the Earth" which brings his usual high level of scholarship to the diaspora and the much-reported impact of Scots emigrants throughout the world. I haven't received the book yet, but was most interested in the summaries related to the way the United States has come to view its Scottish influences, particularly the surge of clan-related activity in the southern United States which will be familiar to any regular reader of Beths New-Fangled Family Tree.
