James Wilson 1820 Martyr

James �Purlie� Wilson was born in Kirkyard Street (now Castle Street), Strathaven, on 3rd September 1760 and died on Glasgow Green 1820 after being hung, drawn and beheaded and is regarded as many as a Martyr to the cause of Scottish freedom.
