    Howdy,

    BOOK --- Who Are The SCOTCH (A very PATRIOTIC title, indeed........),
    published, A.D. 1880, declared *********

    "The ancient Scotia was Ireland, and the Irish were known
    in early history as Scots."

    "...the word Scot means wanderer."

    Then he quotes somebody ---
    "Is it by any means probable that a small band of emigrants landing in Scotland from Ireland in 503
    could have been able, in the year 843, to overthrow a kingdom that had successfully
    resisted the Roman armies???"

    "The early Scottish kings were reported to be of the Irish northern Hy Niall line of chiefs."

    Then he quotes another sombody ---
    "the Scoto-Irish colonists overspread the Western Isles and Highlands
    ...introduced their own language and customs."

    "But there are strong opinions entertained on the other side that the
    Scots were aborigines of Scotland, and, in all probability, that they settled in Ireland."

    Quoting somebody who took that stand ---
    "that the Irish dressed differently from the Scots ;
    used the target, sword, and dirk, instead of the bow, spear, and javelin ;
    wore plaids, and not pantaloons and cloaks."

    "The Scots of Albany or Scotland called themselves Gwyddel, woodlanders."

    "A connection, intimate and continued, did exist between north-east Ireland and south-west Scotland."

    "the title of Dalriads or Scots came to be applied indifferently to both sides of the water."

    "Certainly no writer used the word Scotia for Albany, instead of Ireland, till the eleventh century."

    "The Kingdom of Scotia was inaugurated by Malcolm in 1005."

    SCOTIA --- FREEDOM TO WORSHIP THEE KING OF KINGS AS IT IS WRITTEN.............

    Sincerely, Indeed,

    The Gael went through Spain and Portugal to reach Ireland. In the early days of travel through Europe the Irish were called Scots. There is a lot of Irish connections but it's also fair to day that many of the clan chiefs were of Normandy and other foreign stock. it is generally believed that the Picts were amalgamated into the Scottish population rather than any battle that killed them all off.

      Argyll means "Land of the Gaels".
      There were Britons in Strathclyde.
      Bruce and Wallace were of Norman stock. The Normans had been 'invited' into Scotland rather than arriving as 'conquerors'.
      There were Anglo-Saxons on the East Coast - Northumberland extended up to the Lothians...
      Etc...

        Hoping your health is improving.........

        That Author of the Book does say that not all the chieftains were kelts.

        King M'Alpin did not wipe those people out as false history declares.

        S = SOVEREIGN

        C = COUNTRIE

          Howdy,

          Carolina (the best of Scottish poets.........) Oliphant uses the word "SCOTIA" quite a few times.

            Howdy,

            This thread is about S C O T I A.............

            That is what the original posting is about.

            Forget the replies after that --- they have nothing to do with the topic.
