Re: Paul McCartney
Yes, a beautiful song, however it has been made into a sad song for me and my wife's family. It was the song chosen to be played by my wifes late mother during her funeral who passed away last month.
However, a Liverpudlian singing a scottish song reminds me of Mel Gibson trying to speak with a Scottish accent when he played William Wallace in Braveheart...I will however forgive him,as i will Paul McCartney, they both did a wonderful job respectively.
In fairness i should also mention the terrible Russian accent of Sean Connery in The hunt for red october..Come to think of it, did he even try to put on a Russian accent???Euan..

Re: Paul McCartney
Guess it meant a lot to them to play it at the funeral Euan.
Accents are interesting for sure. That's in part why I always enjoy listening to Peter Wright's recordings in the Scots language section of the site. He is in fact one of only a handful of people that can talk all day in the old Scots language. He and his wife Marylin recorded many poems and stories as well as doing a glossary of Scots words.
