  • Ramblin' Jack Elliott & Tom Russell, The Sky Above, The Mud Below

I finally gave up on trying to put BBC on here. Here's an old guy, Ramblin' Jack, & Tom Russell....in one of those "story" songs. I've got a Ramblin' Jack cd, & absolutely love his gravelly voice. I hope you all like this....think cowboys & Westerns!! Joan

Thanks Joan. I saw Ramblin' Jack live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada) in my student days, many years ago. A mesmerizing show, just him and his guitar and songs like these. He was actually a Dr.'s son from New York who ran away and joined the rodeo, and from there joined the troubadour tradition. He had a profound influence on other artists like Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie and Kris Kristofferson. He was late to receive real recognition and will likely be remembered best for preserving the Depression-era music of Woody Guthrie. One of a kind!
