Doc Watson died Tuesday, 5/29/12, at 89 in North Carolina. This video was posted with the announcement. Rather appropriate, I think. Joan

I first heard Doc Watson in the 1970s when he worked with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on their first Circle album. That was some pretty elaborate picking at a time most guitar players were still strumming chords.

Hey, Tom...Yes, I've read that Doc was one of the fastest guitar pickers!!! He did bring an innovation into the music world. I've saved on my DirectTV, a show of his playing with a piano player, & it was wonderful. It was on "Song of the Mountains", a show from down in Marion, Va. Really great!! Joan PS: I think I have all of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Will the Circle be Unbroken tapes/records, & also have a video of it too, of when they recorded it.
