Why does my Golden Retriever start hacking when he runs?

Hi, My Golden Retriever always hacks when he starts to run. He opens his mouth like he's going to vomit but he never actually vomits. He hacks and coughs and then stops after a few seconds. He only does this after he's been running. He's done this for about a week now. He's only a year old and is in good health other than this.

Perhaps he's got something stuck in his throat and only does that when he needs more air?

My own dog, now 13 years old, sometimes has a short spell of 'hacking' but never brings up anything from the stomach.
