It is not only dogs that can behave in this manner, many other animals can also show emotion, for which we do not appear to recognise.

Ranald, dogs do suffer from separation anxiety. When my late husband died my dog ripped apart my wire gate with his teeth in an attempt to go and find him. The dog had never done this before. I had to get a new colourbond gate before he stopped trying to get out.

Ranald...from my own observations, most people say border collies are the most intelligent breed. My daughter's friend has one with border collie in it...a mix. He has to have jobs to do in order to keep him occupied. Like waking up the kids in the morning, etc. Joan
