    I noticed a solar panel the other day that just looked like a normal slate on the roof. In North America most homes use shingles which have a life of no more than 40 years. So that makes it possible that the next time you need to replace the roof you could like do it with all solar panels. The only thing then to consider is how robust these would be to storm damage.

    I used to be in touch with a company that was building wind power units for the home and camping. Not sure what happened to them but they hoped to get the price and size down to the point where you could use them to power your camp site for lighting and a stove and would also recharge your cell phone but also as an emergency backup for the home if you got a power cut.

      Well solar power is pretty effective.. Even I have installed these panels and have got satisfactory outcomes..

        One has to be aware that solar panels on roofs, can have strength loss of the roof structure in serious weather conditions.

        In the UK we do not think of tornados, but we now have to think again.
