I was reading some news today and noted an article on the coming retirement of the baby boomers and the huge impact that is going to have on the finances of the major industrialized countries.
I thought I'd do a search for more information on this and found a very good article by CBS which you can read at http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/ca...ay-fortin.html
Having read the above article the one thing they didn't discuss was the employment issue. Many of the baby boomers have particular skill sets and you have to wonder if the younger generation can fill some of the gaps that will inevitably occur as a result of their retirement.
Given the massive student debt I also wonder how many of these young students will even want to take advantage of university education when they will be saddled with such a huge debt. Will this mean less people able to take on the more technical aspects of the labour market which would normally pay higher taxes?
