Hi all, I have been contacted by my half brothers family in UK. We knew my fathers first marriage had produced a son and only his name of Ricky but have had no contact as he went to live with his mothers family when he was a baby after she passed away.

On the weekend through a friend of mine reading a note on a message board, his daughter got in touch. She had been trying to find our family to make a surprise for Ricky's 70th birthday in November.

She and I chatted on the phone and then her sister drove over 2 hours to her house and I chatted with her also. My sister and I had a long time with them on msn before I eventually went to bed at 4am.

I am excited about having another brother and 7 nieces and nephews I didn't know I had.

The only information Lindy had to go on was my mothers name and date of death and that the children were put into care.

The internet is great isn't it?

    Mary

      That's terrific Mary

A few years ago I found a cousin on the internet. We worked out that our grandfathers were brothers....mine was the eldest son and hers was the youngest. We are still in touch today.

          Mary,
That certainly is fantastic for you,the Internet is (as Kelly stated) a great tool for bringing people together and finding missing/new family members,I've experienced the same thing and it is so good to speak to people on the telephone you did not know existed; even better was meeting some in person.
